THATS ON PERIOD ZINE 5.5 X 8.5 IN.

By quizzing three individuals who menstruate and three who do not, it shows the lack of knowledge about the menstrual cycle, even for those who experience it. All of the quiz takers are in their early twenties, only a few years out of college and are now entering the real world, which questions how important the female body is in education. Feminism is carried throughout the material and the imagery, inspired by the Riot Grrrl Movement of the 1990s. The zine is hand collaged using a mixture of handwriting and cut outs all scanned together, commonly found in Riot Grrrl zines.

THATS ON PERIOD WEBSITE

While zines were a popular way to spread information in the 1990s, today the quickest and most accessible way to reach a public audience is through the internet. As an extension of the zine, I turned the content into a website, staying true to the Riot Grrrl aesthetic and message through collaging the content digitally. I accompanied the questions and responses with the correct answers, creating a space for not only reflection but also getting a chance to learn. As it turns out, finding trustworthy sources that cover the menstrual cycle, or the female anatomy at large, is hard to come by. To help, resources are included throughout the website to encourage further research.
